Sanjouin Chigusa is the nemesis to the main character of the Shoujo Kakumei Utena game for Sega Saturn, Four Days in Ohtori: Itsuka Kakumeisareru Monogatari. Her character doesn't exist in the movie, manga or anime.
Story[]
Chigusa was a student of Ohtori Academy and a member of its fencing club fifteen years prior to the events of the game. She fell in love with the fencing club advisor, Masaomi, and trained obsessively in an attempt to impress him. During this time, she befriended the main character's mother, Koto. Their friendship ended when it was discovered that Koto had been in a relationship with Masaomi behind Chigusa's back. In response to learning the truth, Chigusa burned the fencing building to the ground with herself inside it, ending her own life.
When describing the events of fifteen years ago, Chigusa often likens herself to the Evil Queen of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, while likening Koto to a princess and Masaomi to a prince. She believes that Koto won Masaomi's heart without putting in any work, appealing to him because she was weak and feminine. As a result, Chigusa despises girls who are not strong; she wishes to defeat noble princes and passive princesses in the name of evil queens and old witches.
Chigusa is predictably bitter and cold towards anyone she sees as a prince/princess, such as the main character of the game (sometimes calling her "Snow White"). She will even go so far as to talk badly of the main character to other students at the school in order to tarnish her reputation. However, there are times when Chigusa will pretend to know nothing of the events of the past and treat the main character kindly; whether this is solely meant to gain the main character's trust in order to trick her later is ambiguous, as their friendly interactions sometimes cause Chigusa to hesitate when talking badly about her.
Although Chigusa died fifteen years ago, she is brought back into the world by Akio Ohtori using a yorishiro. Akio considers Chigusa to be a test run for Souji Mikage, whom he revives shortly after Chigusa's yorishiro is destroyed.
